Everglades Blackbird

Just finished up my bird painting, watercolor and a little bit of colored crayon for highlights.
How do you like the way I signed my name, hope it is correct. The painting looks somewhat Asian, simple, well as simple as I can make it. I like to use patterning, maybe the next one.
Since I am not going to be attending the workshop, I have to stop feeling sorry for myself and do some paintings. So here it goes, my first of my series of everglade birds, hope it won't be the last.

  1. If you have never tried to paint in the Japanese style it might be worth your effort to learn more about it. I think some of the most beautiful work in the world was done by past masters. It is or was a part of calligraphy and is just as important to them in their culture. Chinese is similar but not as elastic.

    I like your painting.

Thanks for visiting. You might like to see my Japanese blog.

  2. I love this, it's a beautiful painting. You've captured the feathers' sheen wonderfully.
